K.I.S.S.
KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid. No offense — but, sometimes it’s the simple things that make the biggest difference. We often think that success is about making bold moves or having incredible talent, but the truth is, success is built on consistency. Day in and day out, it’s the small, intentional actions that create lasting change.
As the quote by Del Suggs goes:
"Consistency is an under-appreciated inspirational quality."
Why? Because it’s not glamorous, and it doesn’t give us instant results. But when we stay consistent, we’re building the foundation for something bigger… and often better.
My Personal Journey with Consistency
I’ll be honest—staying consistent hasn’t always been easy for me. Like most people, I’ve started changes that didn’t last…..far more times than I can count. Looking back, I realize that something was often missing—either I hadn’t planned properly, I wasn’t clear about my “why,” or I jumped ahead and burned out.
One story, and a time I did maintain consistency, is when I trained for a marathon. It was very overwhelming at first, but I stayed consistent by sticking to a training plan. It wasn’t a fancy plan and I wasn’t a fast runner. Day by day, I made progress. Some days I didn’t want to do it, but I reminded myself why I started: for my health, my confidence, and to prove to myself I could do it.
By focusing on small, manageable steps, I eventually crossed the finish line—a moment I’ll never forget. That experience taught me the importance of patience and showing up for myself, even when it’s hard.
3 Steps to Staying Consistent
If you’re struggling to stay consistent, here are three steps that can help:
1️⃣ Plan Ahead
Success starts with preparation. Whether it’s writing down your priorities the night before, organizing your workspace, or prepping meals for the week, having a plan makes it easier to follow through. When you know what to do and when to do it, consistency feels less overwhelming.
2️⃣ Practice Mindfulness
Big goals can take time, so it’s easy to get distracted or lose motivation. Stay focused on your goal by reminding yourself why it matters. Check in with yourself regularly—how are you progressing, and what’s working? Mindfulness helps you stay present and connected to the process.
3️⃣ Start Small and Enjoy the Process
You don’t need to do it all at once. In fact, doing too much too quickly can make consistency unsustainable. Take one small step at a time, and find ways to make the process enjoyable or rewarding. Celebrate small wins along the way, because they’re just as important as the big ones.
A Final Thought
Consistency isn’t about being perfect—it’s about showing up, even on the tough days. Sometimes that means taking tiny steps forward, and other times it means pausing to adjust. But with patience and determination, those small steps can lead to big results.
